The two Krag machines for the application of postmarks, in function until august 1917 in tsaristic Riga, were used further. One machine was in good condition for further use, but the other had to be repaired.
The use of the old machines, 1920-1929, is to recognize in the postmarks: the month in Roman numerals.
  • Here the first postmark on a cover to Stockholm: a one-circular postmark with date vertical without serial letter, 8 lines 45-48 mm, in use 1-5-1920 to 23-6-1922 (all dates are reported dates from covers).

  • The postmark, resized 50%:

  • From 10-11-1922 we see -as on this card- postmarks with serial letter 'A'.
Between 10-11-1922 and 30-1-1924 as a arrival postmark with 8 lines

  • Original print size of this image: 13,648 x 8,797 cm (is
something more as the postal item)
    The postmark, resized 50%:

Original print size of this image: 15,426 x 12,099 cm (is
something more as the postal item)
  • With text 'ATVERIET SEV TEKOŠU REKINU PASTA': from 25-3-1924 up to 14-10-1926
  • In the period 24-8-1927 up to 27-6-1928: 8 lines with L and 3 stars, as we see here.

  • The postmark, resized 50 %, with serial letter A:

  • According the book above we can distinguish:
  • The machines 1920-1929 in Riga: 4 postmarks of machine A and 11 postmarks of machine B.Together 15 (table: 1-15)
  • The machines 1930-1938 in Riga: 4 postmarks with machine A and 7 with machine B. Together 11 (table 16-26)
  • The machines 1938-1940 in Riga: 7 postmarks with machina A and 3 with machine B. Together 10 (table 27-36)
  • The machine in Cēsis: 2 postmarks (table: 37-38)
  • The machine in Jelgava: 1 postmark (table: 39)
  • The machine in Liepaja: 1 postmark (table: 40)

  • So we have in total 40 different postmarks: my collection not yet complete.

    Further:
  • The hand-roll-postmarks in Riga: 2 different postmarks

  • The other machine:

  • The first use of postmarks of another machine we see with the postmark 'INTERN. IZSTADE .....RIGA - 31 VII-1921' , in use between 27-5-1921 and 4-9-1921, also without serial letter. In later postmarks we see serial 'B'. IZSTADE means exposition.
  • Next is a postmark with 'L' and three stars in the 'flag', 8 lines, still without serial letter: 9-9-1921 up to 4-4-1922 and 2-7-1922 up to 13-11-1922
  • 5-4-1922 up to 1-7-1922: with text in the 'flag' INTERN. IZSTADE ..... RIGA - 11-25, VI-1922', still without serial letter, the postmark we see aside.

  • Original print size of this image: 13,674 x 8,924 cm (is
something more as the postal item)

    The postmark, resized 50 %

  • With 'L' and three stars, 8 lines, now first with serial letter 'B', in use 20-12-1922 up to 24-4-1923, 5-8-1923 up to 1-4-1924 (see below), and 2-8-1924 up to 26-3-1925.

  • There is used a postmark like this in the period
    23-12-1925 up to 20-7-1928
and 6-8-1928 up to 4-2-1928, but then the 'L' is placed more left (left as the last 5 lines)
Here you see also a postmark with the month in Roman numerals, but now serial letter B. So I suppose the other old machine.
In the table of the book, mentioned above, 08-B.
Original print size of this image: 14,410 x 9,432 cm (is
something more as the postal item)
    The postmark, resized 50 %:

    Machinepostmark with the text 'IZSTĀDE - TIRGUS RIGĀ-19VII-1925g. FOIRE-MESSE-FAIR' , serial letter B, used 27-3-1925 until 27-6-1925.
In the table of the book, mentioned above, 12-B.
Original print size of this image: 15,502 x 12,479 cm (is
something more as the postal item)
    The postmark, resized 50 %:

The same postmark is also reported with flag upside down (12-Ba).

Again a machine postmatk with 'L' and three stars in the flag and also serial letter 'B', but now the 'L' more left in the flag , almost even left as the long lines.
In the table of the book, mentioned above, 13-B.
The (reported) use: 23-12-1925 until 20-7-1928 and 6-8-1928 until 4-2-1929.
Original print size of this image: 15,604 x 9,990 cm (is
something more as the postal item)
    The postmark, resized 50 %:

    So we have to distinguish:
    Machine A
    'L' more left,
    with serial A (04-A)

    And machine B:
    --
'L' a little more right, no serial (06-B)'L' a little more right, serial B (08-B)'L' more left, serial B (13-B)

Here the last postmark of the first period with serial letter 'B', in the table of the book, mentioned above, 15-B.
Text in the flag: PERKAT LATVIJAS RAZOJUMUS (Buy Latvian products).

    The postmark, resized 50 %:

Original print size of this image: 13,674 x 8,823 cm (is
something more as the postal item)

  • the month is indicated in Arabic numerals
  • new spelling
  • bar-arch
  • Card with machine-postmark: serial letter 'A', in the table of the book above: 17A.
The text is in one flag ABONEJEIET RADIOFONU! and the other flag NOGULDIET NAUDU PASTA KRAJKASE!: 'Subscribe on the radio' and 'Pay the money to Post-savingsbank'. The postmark is used from 26-9-1930 up to 11-11-1934.

Original print size of this image: 15,248 x 10,752 cm (is
something more as the postal item)

The card itself is special: in the value indication the zero is something leaning.
